March 5 – 6, 2011: Pilates Workshop & Seminars with Kathryn Ross-Nash

Seminar: The Red Thread Saturday, March 5 – 11:15A.M.—12:45P.M.

If you are a reader of Pilates Style, you may have read Kathi's article by the same title, this is the live version. In this lecture demonstration, Kathi reveals the common thread that runs through each and every exercise in the Pilates Method. If we comprehend the essential elements of Pilates, which are most easily experienced in the very first exercises that a new student learns, then we have a blueprint for an entire lifetime of practice. And with that we have the opportunity to realize Joe's promise of normal health no matter what our age. The Red Thread will give anybody who practices Pilates tools to work at a deep and integrated level.

Seminar: Pilates at Home Sunday, March 6 – 11:15A.M.—12:45P.M.

Aside from the Pilates mat exercises, there are many ways to keep your body fit as a fiddle in between your workouts on the apparatus. Developing a home practice can do wonders for deepening your embodiment of Pilates. I have learned a lot from observing Kathi in her studio with her clients and was particularly inspired by how much homework her clients do. Kathi is a serious task master during lessons but her expectations don't stop there. She is an expert at giving clients homework based on their specific needs. In this workshop, Kathi will share with us common exercises for home practice and explain why they are important for building a Pilates body.

Just Added! Charity Mat Class Sunday, March 6 – 5:45P.M.—6:45P.M.

Join Kathi Ross-Nash for a mat workout. All levels of experience with Pilates are welcome. All proceeds from this event will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. A thank you for your support of the children will be provided by Restore™ Clothing.

Pilates Instructors' Workshop, Day 1 Saturday, March 5 – 2:00-5:30P.M.

THE PRINCIPLE OF PRECISION (Includes 30 minute mat class to start) This workshop focuses on the goal of each exercise, how it should be done, and what the main benefit of the exercise is. Joe Pilates states in the book Return to Life that the exercises must be done as prescribed to receive the maximum benefits.

Pilates Instructors' Workshop, Day 2 Sunday, March 6 – 2:00-5:30P.M.

UNDERSTANDING THE SPRING (Includes 30 minute mat class to start) We all know that there is something special about Joe Pilates' Universal Reformer. But do we really know how to get the most out of those springs? In this workshop, Kathi shows us how to transform each and every unique body with Uncle Joe's amazing apparatus. First she will show us how to tailor our use of the springs to the body in front of us. These spring adjustments will help a client feel what we are trying to get them to feel (the powerhouse). We will then experiment with each other to gain a deeper understanding of just how valuable our Pilates apparatus is.
