Enhancing Your Movement Experience through Awareness

A Holistic Biomechanics and Pilates Workshop

This workshop gives participants an introduction to the complementary and life enhancing aspects of Holistic Biomechanics and the Pilates method.  The primary goal of both disciplines is the same:  improve health throuh movement.  We use exercises basic to each method to give participants tools for sensing the body and improving movement quality.

About Holistic Biomechanics and Ollie Lobeck

Formally the Fajardo Method of Holistic Biomechanics, this modality was created by Alicia Fajardo, owner of Transformations Studio in Portland, Oregon.  Holistic Biomechanics is designed to calm the nervous system and activate the body's self healing mechanisms.  Through specific awareness of the body, this work helps the body release the patterns that are retained from a stressed nervous system state and create new structural and movement patterns that increase ease of movement and can relieve chronic pain.  Because the nervous system affects the functioning of all body systems, this work can also lead to overall improvement in health and well-being.

Ollie Lobeck overcame a variety of health issues, including chronic pain and movement limitation, through Holistic Biomechanics.  This success, combined with a love for teaching, inspired Ollie to become a Holistic Biomechanics instructor.  After studying with the originator of the method in Portland, Oregon, she is now the first and only practitioner of Holistic Biomechanics in the San Francisco Bay Area.

About Pilates and Faye Stevenson

Developed by Joseph Pilates in the middle of the twentieth century, Pilates is a very well designed system of exercise with the express goal of restoring perfect health.  Those devoted to is would say it's the best system of exercise available.  Like all products of good design, the beauty of Pilates training comes from its simultaneous simplicity and intricacy.  Amazing results come from a moderate degree of effort with a relatively low risk of strain.

Faye Stevenson, owner of Bayside Pilates studio has been a student of Pilates since 2000.  She has spent years learning about the function of the human body and earned her certification as a Pilates instructor from Joseph Pilates' protege and immediate successor, ensuring a true understanding of the work that he pioneered in the 1930's.

This workshop is available on site, requires minimal set up, and lasts an hour and a half.
